UAE Flag Day

The UAE Flag represents the ideals of courage, strength of mind, peace, and hope, and it is these ideals we celebrated for Flag Day 2017. Students created a giant flag by using paper flowers they had made. While each flower alone didn’t form the UAE flag, when they come to together they create something bigger than themselves. It is this theme of unity and working together forms the very foundation of our own ambitions, and the ambitions of the UAE. Senior prefects addressed the whole school about the importance of Flag Day, the accession of Shaikh Khalifa, and the tireless of work of Sheikh Zayed and the founding fathers. In their address, which they delivered in English, Arabic and French, prefects spoke about how we can all  unite under the  UAE flag, and how the flag can act as a symbol of our shared ideals and values. As the Flag was proudly raised and saluted by prefects, the school sang the national anthem to renew our commitment to these values. Students later celebrated Flag Day by composing tweets about the country, solving a giant UAE flag puzzle, painting their faces in the UAE flag, and play games based around the colors of the flag. So, next time you see the UAE flag, take time to reflect on the values it represents, how we can implement those values in our everyday life. Raise it high.  Raise it proud.
